ENTER Webinar 2024:1 Trauma Informed Care

ENTER held its first webinar of 2024 on the 23rd of January 2024, CET: 5 pm - 7 pm.  The theme for the webinar was Trauma Informed Care.

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach in the human service field that assumes that an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. Trauma-Informed Care recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role trauma may play in an individual’s life- including service staff. Within this approach to care, it is acknowledges that health care organizations and care teams need to have a complete picture of a patient’s life situation — past and present — in order to provide effective health care services with a healing orientation. Adopting trauma-informed practices can potentially improve patient engagement, treatment adherence, and health outcomes, as well as provider and staff wellness. It can also help reduce avoidable care and excess costs for both the health care and social service sectors.

There are two presentations were made, the speakers were:

  • Jacob Hvidhjelm: Post Doctoral Researcher, Capital Region of Denmark

Topic: Implementing Trauma Informed Care. A scoping Review

  • Marie Carey: Advanced Nurse Practitioner and PhD Student at Trinity College Dublin

Topic: Exploring people’s experiences of suicidal imagery and the potential role of CBT-SP (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-Suicide Prevention) Imagery Intervention - The SUMI Study.

Unfortunately Monika Bohinec from the of University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Work, was unable to attend and we hope she will be able to present at the next webinar.  The presentations are available below.  It is hoped the webinar will feed into the next ENTER conference in June 2024, which shares this thematic.  â€‹
