Psychiatric Research Unit, Region Zealand, is affiliated with University of Copenhagen and Roskilde University (Professor of Psychiatry,  Dep. of Psychology and Educational Studies; two Associate Research Professors, Dep. of Neurology, Psychiatry, and Sensory Sciences; The unit is responsible for all psychiatric research carried out in Region Zealand, one of five geographic regions in Denmark.

Care Services

Psychiatry, Region Zealand is responsible for all government based in-patient and out-patient psychiatric services (population approx. 820,000). The staff of approx. 1,500 persons includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and administrative personnel etc.)

Training Resources

Medical students and student nurses are trained here as part of their university education at a regular basis in addition to training of ph.d.-students and the staff in general.

Current Research Projects

Currently we have 9 ph.d.-students (outcome of early psychosis, personality disorders in adolescence, violence in schizophrenia, ADHD, physical exercise for patients with schizophrenia, cost-effectiveness in treatment of schizophrenia, user involvement in psychiatric treatment, analysis of communication in psychiatric ward, psychotherapy in depression.
