The overall aim of the program is to provide people who use mental health services with an opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in research methods and to gain relevant work experience through their involvement in research project work.

The program is designed to be delivered as a series of workshops made up of initial introductory sessions followed by practice based workshops in the following three-stage format:

1st stage: Introduction to research methods - once a week for four weeks.

2nd stage: One month development period - no workshops but twocontacts with individual research supervision and peer group seminars every two weeks.

3rd stage: Practice workshops - monthly (x3 months) with peer group seminars and individual research supervision scheduled in between workshops
